Senior Software Engineer
Washington, D.C. Full-Time Position Description JPI has an immediate opening for a Senior Software Engineer with a bachelor’s degree and at least 12 years’ professional experience with emphasis on network and computer communications software and experience working with operating systems. The successful candidate will have expert knowledge of Operating Systems, LANs, WANs, VPNs, PKI, routers, firewalls, network protocols, data encryption and key management and the ability to perform complex analysis, design, development, integration, testing, and debugging of computer software. Experience includes all aspects of network and computer communications software, and a mixture of experience of operating systems listed below.The 12 years of professional experience will include 6 years’ specialized experience in software engineering of large, complex, interconnected/distributed systems environments. Demonstrated experience in developing, testing, installing, and operating network and computer (host) communications software (e.g. access method and protocol software, application interfaces, transaction processors, and emulators); using and implementing communications standards. Responsibilities Client Service Delivery (95%): Serves as the lead report and data warehouse developer for complex systems;[BS1] Performs analysis and data mining on legacy systems, developing queries and producing executive level reports; Provides development, testing, installing, and operating network and computer (host) communications software support; Performs operating system architecture integration and software design and recommendation of products; Provides functional and empirical analysis related to the design, development and implementation of software operating systems (including but not limited to, IA utility software, IA development software, and IA diagnostic software); Performs software analysis, design, coding and testing of multitier, information applications using technologies and frameworks; Provides expert knowledge of Common Operating Environment (COE) Develops system level scripts in various common languages (e.g., Bourne shell on UNIX); Analyzes network and computer communications hardware characteristics for IA requirements; Assists and coordinates with communications network specialists in the area of communications hardware; Provides Operational Support for services deployed, including interfacing with clients, responding to stakeholder inquiries, troubleshooting issues, and implementing bug fixes; Provides research, thought leadership and innovation to provide recommendations on emerging technologies; or optimization/efficiencies across architecture, implementation, hosting, etc.; Supports production of deliverables, ensuring timely submission. Business Development (5%): Positively represents JPI to different clients through clear articulation of JPI's value proposition; Develops client relationships and communication channels that provide insight into BD opportunities; Identifies alignment of JPI solutions to client needs Requirements Experience: At least 12 years’ experience with 6 years specialized experience in application development and systems engineering; Minimum Education: A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, Mathematics, or other related scientific or technical discipline is required. Advanced knowledge of multiple IT disciplines, including system/software lifecycles, architecture, and specifics tools/platforms to include “legacy” systems and emerging technologies; Deep understanding of SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Agile, ITIL, SDLC, SELC and CMMI principles; Proven ability to support multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven process; Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently under general supervision and in large geographically dispersed team settings to include close collaboration with internal program managers; Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills; SBA, GSA, and/or DHS experience desired; Clearance: Holds current Public Trust clearance or is clearable to that level.
