CLINICAL NURSE I - CCU

As part of the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) at **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** Memorial Hospital, Newport Beach, you'll give direct inpatient nursing care as per the California Nurse Practice Act, and in support of the mission of the Patient Care Services Division. Being a **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** Clinical Nurse I means serving our community by using research and evidence-based outcomes, and collaborating with members of your team to offer the highest level of care to those who depend on us.

Our CCU features 12 beds and has a nurse to patient ratio of 1:1 or 1:2. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the delivery of safe, timely, and appropriate quality care to patients ranging from adult to geriatric, with acute cardiac medical and/or cardiac surgical diagnoses, and other medical/surgical diagnoses.  

You may be required to use a range of interventions such as: endotracheal intubation, ventilatory support, invasive pressure monitoring, tracheostomies, thrombolytic therapy, cardioversions, hemofiltration, peritoneal dialysis, atrial and ventricular overdrive pacing, intra-aortic balloon pumping, insertion of pulmonary artery and transvenous pacing catheters, chest tubes, pericardial catheters, arterial lines, bronchoscopy and Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT). 

Other duties may include:  

*Providing care for patients requiring hemodynamic monitoring and vasopressor therapy, experiencing respiratory distress, and receiving sedation and neuromuscular blocking medications.  *Demonstrating skill in the use of specialized equipment and devices pertinent to treatment, procedures and practices.  *Caring for patients with induced Hypothermia and pacemakers, undergoing bypass procedures, experiencing chest pain, and those with central venous catheters, including multi-lumen, dialyses, PICC, etc.  *Preparing and assisting with invasive procedures. 
*Identifying, assessing, and intervening for patients experiencing complex cardiac dysrhythmias.

Required 

*Active California RN License.  *Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.  *Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification. 
*Minimum of one (1) year Critical Care experience in an acute care facility.  *Successful completion of a Critical Care course.  *Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). If you haven't obtained a BSN upon hire, you will be asked to begin a BSN program within one year of the hire date and obtain your BSN within two years of starting the program. 
Preferred  

*BSN. 
*Previous experience in post-operative critical care of adult cardiac surgical patients, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps, and Continuous Renal Replacement Therapies (CRRT).
