SENIOR ASSOCIATE (6+PQE), PRIVATE CLIENT

Law Firm is looking for a Solicitor (6 PQE) to join its Private Client Division in Worcester. The successful candidate will be responsible for upholding the highest standards of client care, in line with the firm's values, through consistently adopting and encouraging best practice in the areas of client care, regulatory and best practice, professional development and financial hygiene. They will also engage in events which promote the mfg brand as a firm of choice, whilst contributing to Divisional development.

The main duties and responsibilities of the Solicitor (6 PQE) include:

• Handling and resolving a range of complex client matters commensurate to the role (including wills, LPAs, administration of estates and tax planning).
• Ensuring that clients are regularly updated as to the current situation of their case, even if this is going through a period of inactivity.
• Dealing with telephone calls, emails, letters, and other electronic or on-line enquiries effectively and efficiently.
• Ensuring good working relationships with external institutions and organisations.
• Demonstrating effective relationship management with peers and with colleagues.
• Adhering to and implementing Law Society and firm guidelines and regulations including inter alia those on client care, time recording, billing, disbursements, collection of bills, confidentiality and client and office accounts.
• Undertaking file reviews and providing constructive feedback as a means of quality control.
• Ensuring the confidentiality and security of all firm and client documentation/data in line with GDPR standards.
• Dealing with complaints professionally, promptly and in accordance with firm policies.
• Completing all appropriate documents, maintaining files in a neat and orderly state and reviewing matters regularly, in accordance with firm policies/procedures.
• Understanding the obligations relating to client accounts and ensuring bills, payments and receipts comply with the Solicitors Accounts Rules and the firm's rules.
• Identifying risk and communicating and taking steps to mitigate.
• Understanding and demonstrating compliance with the firm’s Client Service Charter.
• Assuming line management responsibility and acting as mentor, as deemed necessary, including the administration of appraisals/reviews.
• Assisting the Divisional and where appropriate, Deputy Divisional Head, on such matters as technical and professional updates.
• Maintaining respectful and effective communications with other members of staff.
• Striving for continuous professional development through engaging in a variety of learning events/activities, sharing information and knowledge freely and demonstrate effective delegation and support for others.
• Attaining individual financial performance targets.
• Maintaining best practice for debt recovery and promoting this across the Division.
• Actively contributing to the financial success of the Division and the firm by attainment of set financial objectives to include Divisional financial targets.
• Assisting in marketing and business development activities, taking active steps to make existing clients and contacts aware of the types of legal work undertaken by the firm.
• Considering and effecting introductions to other Divisions of mfg where possible.
• Contributing to the delivery of the firm’s strategic aims.

The successful candidate must have the following skills, knowledge, experience and attitudes:

• Technical and practical understanding of appropriate law and context. STEP qualification would be desirable but not essential.
• Demonstrable commitment to outstanding client service.
• Ability to line manage and provide feedback in an appropriate and timely manner.
• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with others – in person, over the telephone and in writing.
• Commercially aware and understanding of the firm’s constraints.

• An understanding of and adherence to General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and maintaining confidentiality and integrity at all times.

The salary for this role is competitive and will be commensurate with experience.
