H2: Exciting Opportunity for Recent Law School Graduates - Assist the criminal defense team in the Prestonsburg Trial Office - Provide support such as legal research and writing - Interview clients - Work with a diverse team including attorneys, investigators, and administrative staff - Opportunity to represent the most vulnerable in your community - Initial and promotional probationary period of 12 months - Minimal travel required - No previous experience or special requirements necessary - Eligible for overtime pay - Full-time position with 37.5 hours per week Kentucky DPA is seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join our team as a Law Clerk in the Prestonsburg Trial Office. As a nationally recognized model statewide public defender system, we are committed to ensuring a fair criminal justice process and protecting individual liberties. Our ideal candidate is a recent law school graduate who has completed all coursework at an ABA accredited law school and plans to take the next available bar exam or has recently received their license to practice law. We also value individuals who have a strong desire to serve and help the most vulnerable in their communities. As a Law Clerk, you will work closely with our defense team, which includes attorneys, investigators, alternative sentencing workers, and office administrative staff. Your responsibilities will include providing support such as legal research and writing, as well as interviewing clients. We are looking for someone with exceptional planning and organizational skills, who is self-directed and comfortable working as part of a team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to represent our clients on behalf of the people of Kentucky.
