Stillwater, OK Industry Sponsored Contracts Specialist Stillwater, OK, United States | req19068 Back to Search Position Details Req ID: req19068 Position Title: Industry Sponsored Contracts Specialist Position Type: Staff Full-Time Position Number: AS6781 OSU Campus: Stillwater Department: VP For Research Location Address: 203 Whitehurst Stillwater, Oklahoma, 74078 United States Hiring Supervisor: Dr. Julie Swaringim-Griffin Hiring Range (Contingent upon available funding): 80,500.00 - 108,900.00, Salary Work Schedule: TBD, 40 hours per week minimum Faculty Appt Period: Job Summary: This position is responsible for the review and negotiation of terms and conditions for federal and non-federal contracts and other non- financial agreements associated with sponsorship of research, instruction, and extension/outreach efforts of the university. The position works across multiple constituencies and sponsors and must possess a skill set to work with speed and accuracy in varied assignments that are likely to be multi-party, complex, time sensitive, and high profile. The position will serve as the primary point of contact with the Office of Legal Counsel for all contracting matters. Successful execution requires extensive communication, coordination, and collaboration across many levels of the university. The individual in this position will work closely with college-based sponsored programs staff, with the Office of Legal Counsel, OSU Grants and Contracts Financial Administration, and the Office of Technology Commercialization. The individual in this position reports to the Assistant Vice-President for Central Sponsored Programs Administration in the Division of the Vice President for Research. Review, negotiate, and finalize agreements between the university and industry partners/sponsors in accordance with institutional policies and guidelines and federal and state regulations, with an emphasis on providing the highest level of customer service to university researchers, sponsored programs personnel, and external partners. Draft subrecipient agreements and negotiate with subrecipient organizations including federal, state, for profit, and non-profit agencies. Timely negotiation of highly varied sponsored research agreements in partnership with sponsored research specialists in college offices of research administration, OSU Office of Legal Counsel, and OSU Grants and Contracts Financial Administration. This will include regular communication with faculty on terms and conditions of sponsored research contracts. Preparation of executable contracts, boilerplates, agreement standards in collaboration with and subject to approval of the Office of Legal Counsel. Maintains highly collegial relationships with industry partners, sponsored programs personnel, and other departments campuswide. Advise leadership in the Division of the Vice President for Research on the identification and implementation of practices and procedures to streamline and/or otherwise improve. effectiveness, efficiency, turn-around time, and return on investment related to contracts. Develop and conduct training for faculty and research administrators on effective facilitation of industrially sponsored research agreements and other contracting related topics Coordinate with colleagues in similar roles and pertinent positions (e.g., contract review, export control). Education & Experience Position Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree Three years' experience in contract negotiation either within an industrial setting, governmental setting, or academic environment. Appreciation of academic culture Three years' experience in contract negotiation either within an industrial setting, governmental setting, or academic environment Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and OMB Uniform Guidance Excellent written and oral communication skills; interpersonal and problem-solving ability Detail oriented and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously The successful candidate must have a demonstrated ability to "close the deal". Must be a highly self-motivated professional with exceptional negotiation skills. Must understand the importance of customer service. Preferred Qualifications: Degree in Law, Engineering, STEM, or other field of study OSU prefers a person with legal training and substantial experience with contracting in the governmental and private sectors.
