Job Title: Transactional Associate
Experience: Must be a graduate of an accredited law school and admitted to practice law in the State of Michigan or have the ability to obtain admission upon commencement of employment.

Butzel, a prestigious law firm with over 170 years of experience, is seeking a talented and driven Transactional Associate to join our team. This position will primarily focus on corporate, real estate, and estate and succession planning matters, and will have the opportunity to work with clients across Michigan and Washington, D.C.

The Transactional Associate will have a wide range of responsibilities, including drafting legal documents, conducting research, meeting with clients, and advising on various tax matters. This role requires a strong understanding of estate planning, estate and gift tax, and business succession planning, as well as knowledge in corporate and real estate law.

We are looking for a candidate who is mature, confident, and has excellent written and oral presentation skills. The ideal candidate will also possess a strong work ethic, good organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. To be considered for this position, candidates must be a graduate of an accredited law school and admitted to practice law in the State of Michigan. The salary for this position is competitive and will be based on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

-Provide support on a wide range of corporate and real estate legal activities such as mergers and acquisitions, disputes, contracts, and other related matters.
-Draft, review, negotiate, and interpret various agreements related to commercial real estate transactions.
-Conduct research and draft memos to be reviewed by other attorneys.
-Organize, review, and maintain documents produced; perform, supervise, or coordinate coding of case documents and development of databases and/or other litigation support applications.
-Meet with clients to discern their wishes and draft appropriate documents, including Wills, Trusts, and Powers of Attorney.
-Advise on estate, gift, GST tax, and income tax matters.
-Involved in estate administration matters, including estate, fiduciary income, and gift tax returns, counseling fiduciaries in estate and trust settlement and administration, preparing and filing probate administration documents and attending hearings in probate matters.
-Support other attorneys with the above tasks as required.

Skills and Abilities:

-Strong knowledge of estate planning, estate and gift tax, and business succession planning, as well as corporate and real estate law.
-Excellent written and oral presentation skills.
-Ability to accurately summarize complex problems and proposed solutions.
-Superior intellect and quick grasp of complex legal issues.
-Strong work ethic and willingness to work as needed to get any task done.
-Good organizational and project management skills.
-Proficient in the use of on-line legal research services and legal resources.

Education, Experience, and/or Training:

-Graduate of an accredited law school.
-Admitted to practice law in the State of Michigan or have the ability to obtain admission upon commencement of employment.
