ASSISTANT PUBLIC DEFENDER
Bartow, FL H1: Assistant Public Defender - Appellate Division in Polk County, FL H2: Join the Aggressive Trial Office of the Public Defender's Office in the 10th Judicial Circuit The Public Defender's Office in the 10th Judicial Circuit is currently seeking a highly qualified Assistant Public Defender for their Appellate Division. This position offers a competitive starting salary of $65,000 with opportunities for raises and an attractive benefits package. The ideal candidate will be an active member in good standing with The Florida Bar and have a strong knowledge of criminal law and procedure. As an Assistant Public Defender, you will have the opportunity to represent indigent persons in the appellate process, review and analyze client's records on appeal, identify errors and issues subject to appeal, research and analyze case law, and draft persuasive briefs and other appellate documents. In addition, you will have the chance to advocate in appellate courts through oral arguments and assist trial attorneys in framing and preserving issues for appeal. This position also requires exceptional research, analytical, and writing skills, as well as the ability to manage a high volume caseload while maintaining adequate levels of communication and attention to individual clients. The 10th Judicial Circuit, which includes Polk, Hardee, and Highlands Counties, offers a desirable location midway between Tampa and Orlando with a lower cost of living and high-quality schools.
