Job Title: Attorney Advisor (CLC Beaumont)

Location: Beaumont, Texas

Salary: GS-12 ($86,962 to $113,047), GS-13 ($103,409 to $134,435) or GS-14 ($122,198 to $158,860) depending on experience and qualifications.

Job Description:

- The Attorney Advisor will oversee legal operations at several correctional institutions in Beaumont, Texas.
- This includes providing advice and guidance to staff at all levels, handling litigation and administrative tort claims, and communicating with defense attorneys, prosecutors, federal courts, and agency officials.
- The incumbent must have thorough knowledge of BOP policy and practice and may be required to appear in District Court to explain the agency's rationale for correctional management decisions.
- This is a primary law enforcement position, and the incumbent must be under the maximum entry age of 36 and have experience and knowledge of working in a detention facility.
- The incumbent may also be required to perform law enforcement duties in emergency situations and times of staff shortages.
- Prior experience in correctional law is preferred, but not required.

Qualifications:

- Must have a J.D. degree and be an active member of the bar in any U.S. jurisdiction.
- Must have at least one year of post-JD legal or other relevant experience.
