Ukiah, CA Organization: County Counsel Position: Deputy County Counsel III Salary: $121,742.40 - $147,992.00 Annually Location: Ukiah, CA Job Type: Full-time Permanent Department: County Counsel Job Number: 24.343 Opening Date: 11/14/2024 Closing Date: Continuous The County of Mendocino is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Deputy County Counsel III to join their team. In this advanced-level position, the Deputy County Counsel III will provide legal counsel and representation to the County, its boards, commissions, department heads, and officers. The ideal candidate will have a Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school, current active membership in the State Bar of California, and at least two years of full-time experience as an attorney practicing governmental or civil law. Key responsibilities and duties of the Deputy County Counsel III include: - Providing legal counsel and representation to the County, its boards, commissions, and department heads. - Attending board and commission meetings as the legal advisor. - Conducting legal research and preparing written and verbal opinions. - Assisting in the negotiation and drafting of contracts. - Representing clients in state and federal court and before administrative tribunals. - Maintaining and upgrading professional knowledge and skills through training and development opportunities. - Performing other related duties as assigned. The minimum qualifications for this position include a Juris Doctorate degree, current active membership in the State Bar of California, and at least two years of full-time experience as an attorney practicing governmental or civil law. The ideal candidate will also possess a valid driver's license and have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of individuals.
