Law Firm Seeking International Trade Attorney with 10 Years of Experience in Corporate Transactions

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in corporate transactions with a focus on international trade matters. Job Title: International Trade Attorney
Location: Michigan, Washington, D.C., or potentially remote
Salary: Competitive and commensurate with experience
Experience: 10 years in corporate transactions with a focus on international trade matters
Education: Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
Licensure: Licensed and in good standing in Michigan or the Washington D.C. area

General Purpose:

The International Trade Attorney will be responsible for advising clients on regulatory issues, managing compliance with U.S. trade regulations, and representing clients in other trade-related matters. This includes a focus on U.S. import and export control laws, tariff classification, customs valuation and compliance, trade remedies, free trade agreements, tariff preference programs, and other trade-related matters. The attorney will also handle corporate transactions involving controlled technologies and provide legal support for regulatory compliance.

Major Responsibilities:

- Advise clients on regulatory issues and manage compliance with U.S. trade regulations
- Represent clients in trade-related matters, primarily U.S. import and export control laws, tariff classification, customs valuation and compliance, trade remedies, free trade agreements, tariff preference programs, and other trade-related matters
- Handle corporate transactions involving controlled technologies and international trade regulations
- Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support regulatory compliance
- Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents related to international trade and corporate transactions
- Represent clients in regulatory matters, including obtaining necessary licenses and approvals
- Stay updated on changes in international trade laws and advise clients on emerging regulatory challenges

Skills and Abilities:

- Proficiency with trade preference programs and trade remedy applications, such as USMCA, AD/CVD, and Section 301
- Strong proficiency in international trade regulations and compliance issues
- Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills
- Ability to effectively communicate complex legal concepts to clients
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with internal and external contacts
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in navigating complex regulations such as ITAR, EAR, CFIUS, and OFAC Sanctions Programs is a plus

Education, Experience, and/or Training:

- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- 10 years of experience in corporate transactions with a focus on international trade regulation
- Licensed and in good standing in Michigan or the Washington D.C. area
