As a Staff Attorney, you will play a crucial role in protecting and defending the rights and dignity of our clients with courage, compassion, and competency. The ideal candidate for this position will have the ability to effectively communicate with clients, spot and anticipate legal issues, write, edit, review motions, and make sound legal arguments in the courtroom. First year public defenders will initially be responsible for a smaller caseload consisting of misdemeanor and youth cases. However, as they progress in their career, their caseload will grow and they will have opportunities to handle felony cases and work alongside experienced lawyers. To be considered for this position, applicants must have a J.D. from an accredited law school or be a 3L anticipating graduation.
