Loss Mitigation Underwriter I
Getzville, NY Category Administrative/Clerical, Collections, Customer Service, Mortgage, Underwriting Job Title: Loss Mitigation Underwriter I Experience: Minimum 1 year collections or underwriting experience Salary: $18.57 - $30.95 Hourly (USD) Department: Loss Mitigation Company: M&T Bank H1: Join Our Team as a Loss Mitigation Underwriter I H2: Responsible for Submitting Loan Modification Workups Overview: - Responsible for submitting loan modification workups for the entire waterfall of investor workout options. - Communicate with customers, real estate agents and attorneys to negotiate short sale settlement offers and advise of loss mitigation decisions. - Manage and monitor account portfolio to ensure compliance with policies, guidelines, and regulations. - Assess property value and review financial documents to determine suitable repayment options. - Prepare workout summaries for management approval. - Communicate with internal and external teams to gather information and resolve account complications. - Adhere to compliance and operational risk controls. - Maintain M&T internal control standards. - Promote diversity and reflect the M&T Bank brand. - Complete other related duties as assigned. Scope of Responsibilities: - Works a portfolio of approximately 70 loans. Education and Experience Required: - A combined 3 years’ higher education and/or experience. - Minimum of 1 year collections or underwriting experience. - Ability to communicate effectively over the phone. - Excellent communication and customer service skills. - Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet software. Education and Experience Preferred: - Bachelor’s degree. - Paralegal certification or experience. - Mortgage collections experience. - Knowledge of M&T systems.
