Founded in 2013, Plaid is headquartered in San Francisco with offices in New York, Washington D.C., London, and Amsterdam The Role: - The Privacy & Regulatory Counsel role is highly collaborative and requires a passion for learning new areas, digestible communication, teamwork, and problem-solving - The Enterprise Legal Services team, which includes Privacy & Regulatory, provides support across all of Plaid's functions and is responsible for crafting empathetic, forward-looking solutions - The Privacy & Regulatory Counsel serves a critical role in ensuring partners understand and comply with privacy and regulatory obligations - This role involves collaborating with key business, legal, and compliance stakeholders to develop cutting-edge and pragmatic privacy/regulatory programs and solutions Responsibilities: - Closely collaborate with Plaid's Privacy & Regulatory Counsel on all privacy and regulatory issues and programs - Partner with Product Counsel and their business counterparts to advise on privacy/regulatory issues and develop solutions - Keep the Legal organization informed of relevant developments in the privacy and regulatory ecosystem - Develop and refine privacy and regulatory policies, procedures, and trainings to ensure compliance with ever-evolving protection laws - Act as a key point of contact for privacy/regulatory-related questions in contract negotiations and from Plaid's Risk and Consumer Support teams - Act as a key point of contact for the marketing teams when creating content that accurately reflects Plaid's practices and vision Qualifications: - 8 years of experience as a practicing lawyer, with substantial experience providing solutions-oriented advice on privacy and regulatory issues, preferably in-house or at a government agency - Proactive team-player with a growth mindset, strong communication skills, and a commitment to collaborative problem-solving - Excellent issue-spotter with attention to detail and organizational skills - Deep knowledge of US financial data privacy laws and regulations, as well as working knowledge of international privacy laws - Working knowledge of a broad range of regulations, particularly those applicable to financial services, and excitement around learning more - Experience advising on AI, fairness, gaming, AML, and/or accessibility laws and working with companies in the payments, credit reporting, and/or fraud spaces preferred Salary Information: - Target base salary for this role is between $179,280 and $267,840 per year - Additional compensation in the form(s) of equity and/or commission may be offered - Pay is based on factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and skillset, and location -
