Responsibilities: - Provide financial management support to the Chief Financial Officer and other laboratory business leaders, program managers, project managers, and NREL staff. - Collaborate with other financial analysts and managers to solve complex financial planning, programming, budgeting, and execution tasks, and improve institutional processes. - Support the annual NREL financial planning process by assisting with financial estimates, impacts, and the development of the annual indirect cost rate proposal. - Monitor and evaluate financial plans, identify risks and issues, and provide recommendations to leaders. - Develop monthly financial performance reports for assigned programs, projects, and centers, and perform variance analyses. - Provide financial guidance and support to assigned programs, projects, and centers, ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, and policies. - Maintain updates to cost breakdown structures and assist with financial management, budget development, and execution. - Execute and/or approve financial transactions and monitor and track the Lab's overhead rate structure. - Identify creative solutions for cost recovery that are compliant with Cost Accounting Standards. Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree and 14 years of experience, or Master's degree and 12 years of experience, or PhD/JD and 9 years of experience. - Advanced knowledge of financial principles, theories, and concepts, and general knowledge of related disciplines. - Strong leadership, critical thinking, project management, communication, and problem-solving skills. - Proficiency in using various computer software programs, especially Microsoft Excel and relational databases. - Thorough understanding of cost allocations, indirect rates, and Cost Accounting Standards. - Prior experience with the development of overhead rates or cost recovery structures. - Must be a US Citizen at the time of application. Preferred Qualifications: - Prior government contractor experience. - Working knowledge of Hyperion, Smart View, Oracle Enterprise Business System R12 Projects, and Microsoft Power BI. - Thorough understanding of the Department of Energy budgetary process. Salary Information: - Annual salary range for Financial Analyst IV: $79,600 - $143,300 per year (based on 40 hours per week). - Annual salary range for Financial Analyst V: $95,500 - $171,900 per year (based on 40 hours per week). - NREL considers a candidate's education, training, experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel, external market and internal value, and internal pay alignment when determining salary level. - In compliance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, salary history will not be used in compensation decisions.
