Civil Rights Senior Litigator - Denver City Attorney's Office

Salary Range: $133,488 - $173,551/annually

Location: Downtown Denver, Colorado

Full-Time Position

Organization:

- The Denver City Attorney's Office is one of the largest law firms in Colorado with over 230 attorneys and staff members
- Provides legal services to the Mayor, City Council, all elected and appointed officials, and city agencies, departments, boards, commissions, and employees

Responsibilities:

- Serve as lead counsel on complex civil rights lawsuits and mentor attorneys with less experience
- Conduct legal research and produce well-reasoned work with attention to detail
- Provide excellent client service by representing departments and agencies in lawsuits in state and federal courts
- Coach and mentor attorneys in litigation, research, and related activities
- Provide guidance and legal opinions to various departments and agencies
- Support and implement the vision of the City Attorney's Office, including promoting diversity, equality, and inclusiveness strategies

Requirements:

- Doctor of Jurisprudence or Bachelor of Laws degree
- At least 7 years of significant litigation experience, including successfully managing a large case load and trying cases as lead counsel
- Experience in civil rights law and/or complex tort litigation
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work effectively in a fast-paced, high-profile environment
- Must possess a license to practice law in Colorado or have a reasonable expectation of becoming licensed
