Law Firm Seeks Utah Government Affairs Policy Advisor

Job Summary:

The Law Firm is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Government Affairs Policy Advisor to join our team in Salt Lake City, UT. This position will support the Director of State Government Affairs in managing our firm's Utah Government Affairs client. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in state government policy and experience in lobbying and advocating for clients' interests.

Key Responsibilities:

- Work closely with the Senior Director of State Government Affairs to support their workload
- Collaborate with clients to achieve legislative aims and goals through strategic political giving
- Monitor and track legislation, local government actions, and current issues to determine impact on clients
- Analyze and summarize data and reports related to legislative aims and strategy
- Draft communications including testimony, regulatory comments, and letters for use in the Executive Branch agencies or Congress
- Stay informed on relevant developments from various sources including the Federal Register, agency communications, and legislative hearings
- Make recommendations for legislative and political giving strategies to the Director of State Government Affairs and clients
- Plan and organize events, tours, and meetings for clients with elected officials based on their political strategy
- Maintain a strong understanding of the government affairs industry and stay informed on emerging technologies to inform project management strategies

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Political Science, Public Relations, or related field
- 3-5 years of experience in state government policy arena
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proactive, adaptable, and collaborative work approach
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Strong judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Strong government contacts at the local and state level

Physical Requirements:

- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time
- Lift and carry weights of at least 10 pounds
- Repetitive wrist/hand/finger movement for computer work
- Ability to speak clearly and concisely
- Ability to understand the speech of others

Work Environment:

- Professional office atmosphere
- Sedentary work with occasional off-hour meetings and events

Salary Information:

Holland & Hart offers competitive salaries based on a candidate's education, training, and experience, as well as market and internal value. The salary range for this position in Colorado is $74,925 to $124,875 per year. A discretionary bonus may also be available based on performance.
