The Legal Aid Society of Mid-New York, Inc. (LASMNY) is seeking a passionate and dedicated Staff Attorney to join our Agricultural Worker Project (AWP) team. As a non-profit public interest law firm, LASMNY provides free legal assistance to low-income individuals who are facing civil legal problems. Our mission is to help people stabilize their finances, protect themselves and their families, and increase household income.

The AWP team at LASMNY focuses on providing free civil legal services to agricultural workers across New York State. This includes representing workers in cases related to employment, labor, housing, civil rights, and workplace safety. The AWP also collaborates with other organizations and conducts regular outreach to farm labor camps to educate workers about their rights and available programs.

As a Staff Attorney with the AWP, you will have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of agricultural workers and their families. You will represent clients in federal and state administrative matters, conduct research and develop strategies to address systemic problems, and participate in community legal education activities. This position reports to the Managing Attorney and requires fluency in both English and Spanish.

We are looking for a candidate who is committed to our mission and values of justice. You should have excellent legal skills, including strong writing ability and litigation experience. Experience working with immigrant or low-income communities is preferred. Fluency in other languages is also a plus.
