ATTORNEY SPECIALIST
El Dorado, AR

The organization is seeking a highly qualified Attorney Specialist to join their team. This position offers a competitive starting salary of $62,531 and the opportunity to work within the Office of Child Support Enforcement at the Department of Finance and Administration. As an Attorney Specialist, you will be responsible for conducting legal research, writing legal documents, and providing legal assistance to the agency. This position is governed by state and federal laws, as well as agency policies and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

- Conduct legal research and analyze data and documentation related to agency's legal matters to determine the agency's position on the issue.
- Research case law, state law, and applicable federal laws to prepare for potential mediation, litigation, conciliation agreements, or settlements.
- Write legal briefs, motions, and other pleadings to support arguments during the mediation/litigation process.
- Analyze and interpret state and federal laws to determine their impact on agency programs.
- Advise agency management on potential legal issues and provide legal opinions on actions the agency may take to resolve them.
- Represent the agency in legal proceedings and draft proposed legislation and amendments to current legislation.
- May supervise a small administrative support staff and participate in the hiring process for agency vacancies.

Requirements:

- Licensed to practice law and admitted to the Arkansas State Bar in accordance with ACA 16-22-201.
- A law degree from an accredited law school and three years of experience practicing law.
- Knowledge of state and federal laws, legal research and writing protocols.
- Ability to research, analyze, interpret, and apply case law, state and federal statutes, legal precedents, and legislative intent.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to travel occasionally for in-state and out-of-state meetings, hearings, and court proceedings.
