Kansas City, KS Organization: Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, Kansas Position: Assistant District Attorney/Special Assign (Grant Funded) Department: District Attorney's Office Salary: $32.24-$50.36 per hour Experience: 3 years of criminal, civil, or legal practice experience The Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, Kansas is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Assistant District Attorney/Special Assign (Grant Funded) for the District Attorney's Office. This position is responsible for enforcing the laws of the State of Kansas and handling cases ranging from misdemeanors to high-level felonies and specialty court cases. The successful candidate will have a strong background in criminal law and court procedures, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Responsibilities: - Enforce state laws by charging and prosecuting criminal cases - Handle cases of varying complexity and violations, from misdemeanors to high-level felonies and specialty court cases - Prepare evidence and research legal issues - Prepare exhibits and review journal entries, motions, and orders related to court proceedings - File child in need of care cases, care and treatment cases, and juvenile cases - Prepare search warrants and evaluate special project needs - Serve as a liaison in special areas of assignment - Perform other routine duties as assigned Requirements: - 3 years of criminal, civil, legal practice, or related work experience - Membership in the Kansas State Bar and license to practice law in the State of Kansas - Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations, as well as constitutional and criminal law - Familiarity with court procedures and etiquette, as well as sentencing guidelines - Experience with handling high-level criminal cases is highly desired - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - Ability to work effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and the general public Salary Information: The salary range for this position is $32.24-$50.36 per hour.
