Associate Counsel
Macon, GA Job Title: Associate Counsel - Insurance Defense (Remote) Salary: $102,000.00 - $181,000.00 annually Location: Macon, GA (Remote) Employment Type: Full time Job Summary: GEICO is seeking an experienced Associate Counsel to join their team in Macon, GA. The selected candidate will handle insurance defense litigation in Georgia courts and provide legal opinions and advice to the Claims Department. This is a remote position with the ability to commute to the office when necessary. Job Duties and Responsibilities: - Conduct legal research and prepare legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda - Render opinions on liability, damages, and value as requested by the Claims Department - Prepare and handle pleadings, motions, and discovery, including depositions and examinations under oath - Defend cases by trial or dispositive hearing - Travel as needed to attend trials, hearings, depositions, and conferences - Document files in a clear and professional manner - Follow complex instructions and prioritize tasks effectively - Continuously learn and apply technical and procedural information Qualifications: - 2-6 years of related litigation experience in insurance defense and/or personal injury - Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school - Admission to the Georgia Bar and in good standing with all licensing requirements - Ability to travel as needed - Strong communication skills, both verbal and written - Ability to learn and apply large amounts of technical and procedural information Preferred Qualifications: - Civil litigation experience - Insurance defense-related litigation experience Benefits: - Premier medical, dental, and vision insurance with no waiting period - Paid vacation, sick, and parental leave - 401(k) plan - Tuition reimbursement - Paid training and licensures GEICO is an equal opportunity employer and promotes a fair and inclusive work environment for all associates and job applicants.
