Associate Attorney - Construction Law
Cerritos, CA

Law Firm is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney in the construction law department. This position requires a minimum of 3-5 years of experience handling construction contract claims, both public and private. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in arbitration and trial preparation, as well as knowledge of mechanic’s lien law, stop notices, bid protests, public contract law, and payment and performance bonds. The Associate Attorney will also be expected to have experience with alternate project delivery methods and be able to handle and manage written discovery and depositions with supervision and oversight. Excellent writing skills and the ability to convey a high level of professionalism and competence to clients are also essential for this role.

Responsibilities:

H2: Responsibilities

- Handle construction contract claims, both public and private
- Prepare cases for arbitration and trial
- Participate in arbitration or trial proceedings
- Knowledge of mechanic’s lien law, stop notices, bid protests, public contract law, and payment and performance bonds
- Experience with alternate project delivery methods
- Conduct depositions for both percipient and expert witnesses
- Draft motions, depositions, and letters related to construction litigation
- Prepare and respond to written discovery
- Interact with clients in a professional and competent manner
- Develop strategic plans for construction litigation matters
- Take ownership of cases and see them through to completion
- Strong attention to detail and follow-through skills

Qualifications:

- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in construction law
- Experience with construction contract claims preferred over construction defect work experience
- Knowledge of arbitration and trial procedures
- Familiarity with mechanic’s lien law, stop notices, bid protests, public contract law, and payment and performance bonds
- Ability to handle and manage written discovery and depositions with supervision and oversight
- Excellent writing skills and ability to draft motions, depositions, and letters related to construction litigation
- Strong communication skills and ability to convey professionalism and competence to clients
- Self-starter with excellent follow-through skills
- Ability to take ownership of cases and develop strategic plans for resolution

The salary for this position will be based on experience and qualifications. Benefits and bonuses may also be included.
