Clinic Legal Assistant
Salem, OR Reputed Firm is seeking a Clinic Legal Assistant to join their team in Salem, Oregon. This is a full-time position with a salary of $21.55 per hour. The Clinic Legal Assistant will provide administrative support to clinic students and faculty, perform complex duties related to court processes and procedures, and communicate with clients, students, attorneys, and court personnel. This position will primarily support the Criminal Defense Clinic and work with all College of Law clinics. Responsibilities include: • Providing support to clinic clients and faculty with tasks such as typing, proofreading, and editing legal documents. • Communicating with clients and potential clients in writing, in person, and by telephone. • Delivering, mailing, and electronically filing documents with the court. • Opening and closing client files and maintaining file closure documentation. • Safeguarding the confidentiality of client and student information. • Performing office administration duties such as answering phones, data entry, and scheduling appointments. • Assisting with student outreach, registration, and orientation. • Acting as back-up for the Clinical Law Program Office Manager when needed. Minimum qualifications for this position include one year of legal assistant experience, proficiency with word processing and email, and the ability to communicate effectively in English. Preferred qualifications include fluency in Spanish, experience with legal software and programs, and the ability to type 60 words per minute. The typical work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm. Interested candidates should submit a cover letter and resume for consideration.
