Goldendale, WA Deputy Prosecuting Attorney I - Prosecuting Attorney's Office - Goldendale, WA Salary: $102,627.20 - $110,094.40 annually Job Type: Full-time Job Number: 2024-00020 Department: Prosecuting Attorney's Office Location: Goldendale and White Salmon, WA Opening Date: 06/12/2024 Klickitat County is currently seeking a criminal Deputy Prosecuting Attorney to join their team. This individual will primarily handle district court criminal cases, with the potential for some superior court work depending on interest and ability. The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, a desire for trial experience, and the ability to think quickly on their feet. The annual salary for this position ranges from $102,627.20 to $110,094.40, depending on experience. The county also offers full coverage for medical, dental, and vision. As a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney I, you will be responsible for maintaining district court misdemeanor cases and superior court case dockets for juvenile and adult matters. This includes researching legal bases for complaints and cases, reviewing physical evidence, interviewing witnesses, and requesting further investigation when necessary. You will also evaluate cases for disposition and prepare charges to be filed. In addition, you will be responsible for preparing issues, evidence, research, and arguments for superior court hearings and trials, as well as conducting plea negotiations and prosecuting offenders in both district and superior courts. The ideal candidate will have a Juris Doctor or equivalent degree and a combination of education and experience that provides the necessary skills and abilities to perform the job. Knowledge of legal principles, practices, and techniques is required, as well as the ability to stay current on new laws, regulations, and procedures. As a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney I, you will also provide legal advice and representation to county departments and elected officials as assigned by the Prosecuting Attorney. In addition to the essential job duties, the Deputy Prosecuting Attorney I may also be assigned to the voter canvassing board and assist with implementing new policies and procedures. Other related duties may also be assigned as needed.
