Managing Attorney Santa Fe, Taos and Las Vegas offices

New Mexico Legal Aid (NMLA) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Managing Attorney to join our team and make a difference in the lives of low-income individuals in Santa Fe, Taos, and Las Vegas. This is a full-time position with a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.

About NMLA:

- Provides civil legal services to low-income New Mexicans in areas such as domestic violence, housing, and benefits.
- Has offices throughout the state, including Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Las Cruces, and more.

Responsibilities:

- Supervise and mentor staff attorneys, paralegals, and volunteers.
- Perform administrative duties and work closely with other members of the management team.
- Carry a caseload as sole counsel or co-counsel for low-income individuals in various poverty law areas.
- Participate in community education and outreach.
- Recruit and collaborate with pro bono attorneys.
- Be active in local bar and community activities.

Requirements:

- Licensed attorney with admission to practice in New Mexico.
- Prior experience in administrative and supervisory roles preferred.
- Experience in supervising legal advocacy in Federal, State, and/or Tribal Court.
- Sensitivity to and ability to work with diverse low-income populations.
- Excellent communication, writing, and analytical skills.
- Self-motivated with strong inter-personal and managerial skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, a caseload, and build collaborative relationships.
- Proficiency in Spanish a plus.
