Supervising Attorney
Des Plaines, IL H1: Supervising Attorney Position Available at Life Span in Des Plaines, IL H2: Join Our Team and Make a Difference in the Lives of Survivors of Violence and Their Children Life Span, a nationally recognized leader in providing services to survivors of violence and their children, is seeking a Supervising Attorney to join our team. This is a hybrid-remote position based at our Des Plaines, IL office, with the opportunity for two part-time applicants to fill the role. As a financially secure organization with over 40 years of consistent funding, Life Span offers a competitive full-time starting salary of $93,000, dependent on experience. We also offer a range of benefits, including generous PTO and holidays, life and disability insurance, and a 403b plan. Responsibilities: - Provide civil representation in orders of protection, family law, and civil no contact orders for clients with domestic violence and/or sexual assault issues - Supervise, train, and evaluate staff attorneys and a paralegal - Work with counseling, advocacy, and immigration staff to provide a coordinated response to clients' needs - Participate in systemic advocacy and policy reform efforts Qualifications: - Licensed to practice law in Illinois - Minimum of five years of experience in domestic relations law - Three years of trial experience - Expertise in the Illinois Domestic Violence Act and the IMDMA - Demonstrated interest in public interest/poverty law - Bilingual skills, particularly Spanish, are a plus Location and Hours: This is a full-time, 40 hours per week position based in Des Plaines, IL. Our office is conveniently located near public transportation and offers free parking. After onboarding and training, this position becomes hybrid-remote, with the option to work up to 16 hours per week remotely. Compensation: We value our staff as our most important resource and offer a competitive starting salary of $93,000 for this position, with the potential for an additional $2,000 per year for bilingual staff. We also offer a range of benefits, including generous PTO and holidays, life and disability insurance, and a 403b plan.
