Claim Director
Chesapeake, VA Remote Worker Option Yes Relocation Available No Travel Yes, 25 % of the Time Job Description The Claim Director is a senior level role responsible for handling technical claims for Chubb’s Commercial Direct Handle Claims Team. This individual will manage a variety of auto and general liability claims, both litigated and non-litigated, under primary and excess policies. The position requires strong technical expertise and the ability to make sound decisions in complex situations. The Claim Director will also have the opportunity to travel and work closely with internal and external business partners. Responsibilities Manage a portfolio of moderate to high severity claims, including investigation, coverage determination, reserving, negotiation, and settlement strategies. Conduct thorough investigations into loss facts, damages, and risk transfer opportunities. Evaluate coverage, liability, and damages to determine exposure to the insured and the policy. Communicate coverage positions and make decisions within assigned authority. Implement effective defense, resolution, and claim strategies. Provide exceptional customer service to insureds, agents, and internal business partners. Adhere to Best Practices Guidelines and all statutory and regulatory requirements. Travel to conferences, mediations, and trials as needed. Qualifications Minimum of 7 years of experience as a casualty claim professional, with a strong background in handling high exposure construction claims. Extensive knowledge of primary and excess bodily injury, property damage, and personal injury claims. Demonstrated ability in dealing with significant coverage matters. Familiarity with industry best practices and procedures. Ability to work independently and learn quickly from various sources. Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Strong decision-making abilities in complex situations. Law degree is a plus.
