Cheboygan, MI Job Title: Assistant Prosecuting Attorney – **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** Experience Level: Entry to Mid-Level Salary Range: $75,000 – $80,000 per year Organization: **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** Department: Office of the Prosecuting Attorney Location: Cheboygan, Michigan Starting Date: October 7, 2024 Employment Type: Full-time Job Description: **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** is currently seeking an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney to join our team in the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney. This position will be responsible for handling primarily juvenile delinquent, neglect & abuse, and mental health cases in Probate Court, as well as assisting with overflow cases in the office. The ideal candidate will have a Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA accredited law school, be a member in good standing of the State Bar of Michigan, and possess a valid Michigan Driver’s License. This is a full-time position with a starting salary range of $75,000 – $80,000 per year, plus a competitive benefits package. Responsibilities: - Reviewing police reports and authorizing or denying warrant requests for criminal prosecution - Representing the State of Michigan in all stages of prosecution for misdemeanor, felony, and probate cases - Communicating with victims and witnesses - Drafting legal pleadings, such as motions, briefs, stipulations, and jury instructions - Preparing and reviewing search warrants - Consulting with law enforcement agencies - Conducting legal research and writing - Other duties as assigned by the Prosecuting Attorney Qualifications: - Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA accredited law school - Membership in good standing of the State Bar of Michigan - Valid Michigan Driver’s License - Ability to pass a personal background investigation, including a criminal history check - Working knowledge of computers and general office equipment - Excellent communication skills - Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Physical Requirements: - Walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, and kneeling - Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 lbs Professional attire is required according to county policy.
