Position Summary: As an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, you will serve at the discretion of the elected Prosecuting Attorney and be responsible for handling misdemeanor and felony matters. This includes reviewing reports, preparing search warrants, interviewing witnesses, authorizing or rejecting charges, and all aspects of cases, including pretrial conferences, motions, briefs, and pleadings. Your role is crucial in upholding the law and ensuring justice is served in our community. Required Skills & Abilities: To be successful in this role, you must have a strong knowledge of criminal law, rules of evidence, court rules, and rules of professional responsibility. Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing, are also essential. We expect our employees to uphold high ethical standards, both personally and professionally, and to follow all office policies. Education & Experience: To be considered for this position, you must hold a Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and be licensed to practice law in the State of Michigan. We strongly prefer candidates with at least three years of previous prosecutorial and trial experience. Job Location/Physical Requirements: This position is based in a climate-controlled office building and courthouse, with prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Occasional lifting, twisting, kneeling, reaching, and transferring a maximum of 25 pounds may be required.
