The Illinois Attorney General's Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU) is seeking an Assistant Attorney General (AAG) to join their team in investigating and prosecuting Medicaid provider fraud throughout the state.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Prepare and litigate criminal and civil cases in Illinois State and Federal courts
- Conduct trials and handle all aspects of pre-trial and post-trial proceedings
- Interview witnesses, prepare pleadings, and conduct research for trials
- Negotiate settlements and dispositions
- Maintain working relationships with court officials and client agencies
- Handle civil fraud cases on a national level, often working with other states on multi-state litigation

Minimum Qualifications:

- Licensed attorney in Illinois at the time of application
- Knowledge of civil and criminal law, pleading and discovery practices, and judicial procedures and rules of evidence
- At least 2 years of civil and/or criminal practice experience preferred
- Ability to travel as needed

Salary:

The salary for this position starts at $81,000 and is commensurate with years of practice as a licensed attorney.

In this position as Assistant Attorney General for Medicaid Fraud, you will have the unique opportunity to work in a specialized unit that investigates and prosecutes Medicaid provider fraud in Illinois. Your role will involve handling both criminal and civil cases, including those related to fraud on the Medicaid system, abuse and neglect of long-term care facility residents, and civil qui tam cases. Additionally, you may be part of national teams working on multi-state litigation.

As an AAG, you will be responsible for preparing and litigating cases in state and federal courts, conducting trials, interviewing witnesses, and negotiating settlements. You must also maintain positive relationships with court officials and client agencies. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of civil and criminal law, pleading and discovery practices, and judicial procedures and rules of evidence. A minimum of 2 years of practice experience is preferred, and the ability to travel is required.
