Counsel: Legal Advisor for **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***

Job Description:

- Provide legal advice and counsel to **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** on a wide range of legal issues, with a focus on data privacy and information security
- Interpret and communicate legal requirements to business units and external stakeholders
- Oversee litigation and manage outside counsel
- Direct report to Associate General Counsel

Responsibilities:

- Advise on regulatory compliance, litigation, and contracts, including GLBA, CCPA, EFTA, RFPA, UCC, and FCRA
- Act as liaison between legal department and business units to integrate legal analysis into decision-making process
- Provide legal guidance on various aspects of Navy Federal's business, including data governance, information security, collections, credit cards, lending, procurement, and vendor management
- Ensure policies and procedures comply with legal and regulatory requirements
- Identify and address compliance issues with state and federal regulations
- Respond to requests for legal interpretation and application of laws and regulations
- Assist with litigation support and management of outside counsel
- Review and interpret laws, rules, and regulations affecting Navy Federal operations
- Conduct legal research and provide support to General Counsel Office and Navy Federal committees
- Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
- Licensed to practice law and in good standing with the bar of that state
- Experience in regulatory compliance, litigation, and/or contracts, preferably in the financial industry
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and negotiation skills
- Ability to effectively communicate legal findings and conclusions
- Experience managing multiple priorities and working independently or in a team environment
- Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills
- Advanced research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent oral and written communication skills

Desired Qualifications:

- Knowledge of financial services industry and operations
- Familiarity with Navy Federal's functions and mission
- 2 years of experience practicing law
- Understanding of GLBA, CCPA, FCRA, and other relevant privacy laws
- Experience drafting privacy policies and negotiating privacy-related contracts
- Knowledge of incident response and breach notification procedures

Salary Information:

- Salary range: $125,800 - $211,350 annually
- Based on experience, location, and market position within the organization
