Deputy General Counsel III
Oklahoma City, OK Deputy General Counsel III - $106,445 annual salary "Deputy General Counsel III" - SEO friendly job title "Join Our Legal Team: Deputy General Counsel III" - H1 friendly heading Basic Purpose: The **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** (OHCA) is seeking a Deputy General Counsel III to provide legal advice and representation to the agency and board. The ideal candidate will have a Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA accredited Law School and a minimum of six years of experience in the practice of law. Key Responsibilities: - Provide legal support for copyright, trademark, software, and IT issues within the agency. - Represent the agency in administrative and judicial proceedings, including member and provider appeals. - Review and analyze contracts for the agency, making necessary changes to further the agency's mission. - Coordinate with the Office of the Attorney General/Medicaid Fraud Control Unit for referrals and investigative efforts. - Analyze and determine the impact of proposed legislation. - Address contract bid issues and provide legal support for administrative bid protest actions. - Analyze and review record requests involving the Open Records Act, HIPAA, and Medicaid confidentiality laws. - Attend meetings to explain the Medicaid program and provide information to legislative members and staff. - Act as the principal contact for legal advice and assistance to an administrative unit. - Represent the agency in state and federal court proceedings, including drafting pleadings and attending hearings. - Research state and federal laws related to the Medicaid program and attend meetings to discuss policy initiatives. Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree and Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA accredited Law School. - Minimum of six years of experience in the practice of law. - Active member of the State Bar of Oklahoma. Preferred Qualifications: - Litigation experience. - Relevant legal and/or administrative experience. - Background in health care administration, health care insurance, or state/federal health care programs. - Advanced education and additional certifications. - Familiarity with computer research and case management software. - Senior level administrative experience at OHCA. - Previous legal experience at OHCA. Special Requirements: - Must be able to sit for prolonged periods and lift up to 15 pounds. - Regular exposure to office equipment such as computers, phones, and copy machines.
