Assistant General Counsel - Full Time - Oklahoma County

The **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** (OSDH) is seeking an experienced lawyer to join our team as an Assistant General Counsel. This is a full-time position located in Oklahoma County, with a competitive salary based on education and experience. The successful candidate will have a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school, a license to practice law in the State of Oklahoma, and membership in the Oklahoma Bar Association. They must also have at least four years of civil litigation or administrative court legal experience.

Position Overview

The Assistant General Counsel will be a part of the Office of General Counsel and will handle a wide range of legal issues for the Department's administrative service areas and program areas. They will be responsible for planning, organizing, and monitoring legal activities, interpreting laws and regulations, and providing legal advice, counsel, and assistance. The successful candidate will work independently with a high level of initiative and judgment on complex legal issues.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare legal documents such as briefs, motions, and petitions
- Review existing contracts and provide legal advice on terms and conditions
- Analyze complex legal issues and provide legal opinions and memorandums
- Represent the Department in administrative, state, federal, and appellate courts
- Evaluate proposed legislation and make recommendations for agency action
- Draft and review agency rules
- Conduct legal research and report findings and conclusions
- Advise on legal matters and policy decisions within the agency
- Support and work effectively in a team environment

Qualifications

- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
- License to practice law in the State of Oklahoma
- Membership in the Oklahoma Bar Association
- Four or more years of civil litigation or administrative court legal experience

Additional Requirements

- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
- Must pass a background check
