Claims Examiner or Associate Claims Examiner - Liability Claims
Oak Brook, IL Job Title: Claims Examiner/Associate Claims Examiner - Liability Claims Location: Oak Brook, IL Salary: Dependent on Experience and Education Experience: 2 years (Associate Claims Examiner), 7 years (Claims Examiner) Job Type: Full Time Department: Claims Company: USLI Key Responsibilities: - Analyze and evaluate claims for coverage, liability, and damages - Prepare coverage position letters and conduct thorough investigations - Work with independent adjusters and provide direction as needed - Apply statutory and case law to assess liability exposure - Identify joint tortfeasors and ensure fair payment from all parties involved - Maintain adequate reserves and prepare reports for underwriting and other departments - Communicate effectively with all parties involved in the claim - Adhere to established claim service promises and respond promptly to customer inquiries - Participate in continuing education and professional development activities - Occasionally travel for mediations and other necessary events Qualifications: - Strong oral and written communication skills - Analytical and problem-solving abilities - Effective negotiation skills - Organizational and time management skills - Technical knowledge of insurance coverage, negligence law, and claim evaluation Requirements: - 2 years of relevant experience for Associate Claims Examiner - 7 years of relevant experience for Claims Examiner - Experience in handling general liability/casualty matters - Prior experience as an examiner, adjuster, paralegal, or attorney/lawyer is a plus - Knowledge of multi-jurisdictional laws and advanced degrees/JD are also beneficial Company Culture and Values: At USLI, we value diversity, equity, and inclusion and strive to create a welcoming and inclusive community for all employees.
