Staff Attorneys: Housing (Greenfield or Springfield) at Community Legal Aid - $71,500 starting salary Community Legal Aid (CLA) is a non-profit legal services program that provides free civil legal assistance to low-income and elderly residents in central and western Massachusetts. With over 180 dedicated and talented staff across multiple offices, CLA is committed to client-centered advocacy and partnerships with client communities. CLA is currently seeking housing attorneys to join their team in either the Greenfield or Springfield office. The attorneys will primarily represent tenants in eviction cases, assist with public and subsidized housing program denials or terminations, and handle other housing-related matters. The role will also involve participating in a Housing Court lawyer-for-the-day program, engaging in community outreach and education, and working closely with community partners. Qualifications for this role include recent law school graduates or more experienced attorneys, with a preference for those with landlord-tenant experience and fluency in Spanish. Strong interpersonal skills, experience working with diverse communities, and the ability to work collaboratively are also important qualities for this role. In addition to the competitive starting salary of $71,500, CLA offers a generous benefits package that includes a 401(k) with employer-paid contribution, low-cost health insurance for employees and their dependents, malpractice insurance, paid leave, law school loan repayment assistance, and a relocation stipend. CLA also has a hybrid work environment, requiring advocates to work in their assigned office at least three days per week.
