Staff Attorney- HCPB Hybrid
Wichita Falls, TX Job Title: Staff Attorney- HCPB Hybrid/Remote Organization: **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** Department: Legal Services Location: Wichita Falls, Texas (Hybrid-Remote) Salary: $66,500 per year (may be higher based on experience) Employment Type: Regular Full Time Position Overview: - Seeking a dynamic, self-starting attorney with a demonstrated commitment to public interest law - Will provide daily representation in civil legal matters and engage in strategic advocacy and outreach to low-income persons and community groups Organization Overview: - Non-profit public interest law firm providing free civil legal services to low-income persons in 114 counties in North and West Texas Responsibilities: - Gather evidence, advise clients on their rights, draft legal documents, and conduct civil lawsuits - Interview clients and witnesses with cultural competence - Represent clients in court and before government agencies - Interpret laws, rulings, and regulations for clients and the community - Provide legal assistance in areas such as employment, housing, consumer, probate, special education, social security, public benefits, and bankruptcy - Design and carry out outreach and community legal education programs - Train, supervise, and coordinate activities of legal, clerical, volunteer, or student workers Qualifications: - Licensed to practice law in Texas - Prior experience handling contested consumer, debt-collection, or bankruptcy cases preferred - Strong understanding of Texas Rules of Civil Procedure and Evidence - Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Strategic thinking and project implementation abilities - Strong work ethic and sense of accountability - Fluent in Spanish (preferred) - Excellent attendance record - Ability to travel for work occasionally Salary and Benefits: - Entry-level salary for new attorney is $66,500 per year - Salary for successful applicant may be higher based on experience - Excellent benefits package including paid vacation and holidays, retirement plan, health, dental, and life insurance Application Process: - Submit cover letter, resume, and three professional references - Equal opportunity employer, veterans are encouraged to apply |
