Job Title: Staff Attorney - Home Preservation Project (HPP)
Job Location: Hybrid/Remote - Midland, Odessa, San Angelo, Abilene, Texas
Experience: Prior experience in landlord-tenant, housing, or foreclosure prevention cases preferred

Overview:
- **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** (LANWT) is seeking a dynamic, self-starting attorney to join their team as a Staff Attorney for the Home Preservation Project.
- This is a full-time position that will involve providing daily representation in civil legal matters, as well as identifying opportunities for strategic advocacy and engaging in outreach to low-income individuals and community groups.
- LANWT is a non-profit public interest law firm that provides free civil legal services to low-income individuals in 114 counties in North and West Texas.

Responsibilities:
- Gather evidence, advise clients, draft legal documents, and conduct civil lawsuits.
- Interview clients and witnesses with cultural competence.
- Represent clients in court and before administrative agencies.
- Interpret laws, rulings, and regulations for clients and the community.
- Provide legal assistance in areas such as housing, landlord-tenant, consumer, probate, special education, public benefits, and bankruptcy.
- Design and carry out outreach and community legal education programs.
- Work closely with low-income community groups to reduce poverty and increase access to the civil justice system.
- May supervise and coordinate activities of legal, clerical, volunteer, or student workers.
- Attend evening legal clinics, conduct intake at shelters, and participate in outreach offered by LANWT.

Qualifications:
- Licensed to practice law in Texas.
- Prior experience in contested landlord-tenant, housing, or foreclosure prevention cases preferred.
- Strong understanding of Texas civil procedure and evidence rules.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strategic thinking and project management abilities.
- Fluent in Spanish (preferred).
- Strong work ethic and accountability.
- Ability to travel occasionally for work.

Salary: Entry-level salary for new attorneys is $66,500 per year, with potential for higher salary based on experience.
