Plattsburgh, NY Staff Attorney - Appeals: Represent clients on direct appeal in the Appellate Division, manage cases and deadlines, and provide high-quality legal assistance to low-income individuals in rural New York counties. Draft briefs and present oral arguments - Assist with intake evaluation of cases - Manage cases and deadlines using case management system Qualifications: - J.D. degree with at least three years of relevant appellate litigation experience - Admission to the New York Bar or ability to secure immediate admission - Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills - Ability to handle complex legal issues - Experience in trial court and post-conviction proceedings is a plus - Commitment to representing indigent individuals and understanding of racial and economic issues in the criminal justice system - Strong belief in communication and respect for all individuals - Ability to work collaboratively and independently Salary: Commensurate with experience Benefits: -
