H1: Senior Corporate Counsel for Reforestation Company H2: Join Our Mission to Reverse Climate Change Through Reforestation Projects Responsibilities: - Advise on structuring, funding, and financing reforestation projects and carbon credit transactions - Ensure compliance with international laws, regulations, and standards - Conduct legal due diligence and risk assessment for proposed deals - Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and policies - Develop and maintain legal policies and procedures - Assist with legal disputes and coordinate with outside counsel Minimum Qualifications: - Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school - 5 years of experience in project finance and/or development on forestry or energy projects - Expertise in carbon-related transactions - Excellent communication skills, both written and oral - Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple legal matters concurrently - Strong business acumen and ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment Preferred Qualifications: - International experience, particularly in Africa, Latin America, and/or Southeast Asia - Previous in-house legal experience - Familiarity with land tenure, land use, leases, and permits - Knowledge of environmental laws and regulations, specifically related to forestry and climate change - Experience with project finance and carbon credit transactions - Fluency in a second language, such as Spanish, Portuguese, or French Salary and Location: - Salary range of $130,000 - $150,000, plus equity (based on location and experience) - Remote position, with a preference for candidates in the eastern time zone About Our Company: - Fast-growing company dedicated to reversing climate change through reforestation - Diverse team of passionate individuals with a common mission - Values innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning - Committed to making a positive impact on the environment and communities In Summary: We are seeking a Senior Corporate Counsel to join our team and help us achieve our mission of reversing climate change through reforestation. This individual will play a crucial role in advising on legal matters related to our reforestation projects and carbon credit transactions, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, and managing any legal disputes that may arise. The ideal candidate will have a Juris Doctor degree and at least 5 years of experience in project finance and/or development, with expertise in carbon-related transactions. Fluency in a second language and international experience are also preferred. This is a remote position, with a preference for candidates in the eastern time zone. The salary range for this role is $130,000 - $150,000, plus equity, based on location and experience.
