Job Title: Applied Researcher I
Salary: $230,000 - $278,100 annually (based on location)

Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in applied research with a PhD or M.S. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering or related fields.

Location: McLean, Virginia | Cambridge, Massachusetts | New York, New York | San Francisco, California

Responsibilities:
- Partner with cross-functional team to deliver AI-powered products that change how customers interact with their money.
- Leverage a broad stack of technologies to reveal insights hidden within huge volumes of numeric and textual data.
- Build AI foundation models through all phases of development.
- Engage in high impact applied research to take the latest AI developments and push them into the next generation of customer experiences.
- Use interpersonal skills to translate complexity of work into tangible business goals.

- Technical with experience in open-source languages and developing AI foundation models using open-source tools and cloud computing platforms.

- Experience building large deep learning models and expertise in training optimization, self-supervised learning, robustness, explainability, and reinforcement learning.
- Engineering mindset and experience delivering models at scale.
- Professional with a track record of coming up with high quality ideas in machine learning.

Basic Qualifications:
- PhD or M.S. with at least 2 years of experience in applied research.

Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering or related fields.
- PhD focused on NLP or Masters with 5 years of industrial NLP research experience.
- Multiple publications on topics related to pre-training of large language models.
- Member of team that has trained a large language model from scratch.
- Publications in deep learning theory.
- Publications at top AI conferences.

Salary Information:
- Minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries listed below, based on location.
- Part-time roles prorated based on agreed upon number of hours.
- Eligible for performance based incentive compensation.
