Worcester, MA Summary: Patent Prosecution Counsel is a full-time position based in Worcester, MA, with the opportunity to work remotely 3 days per week. For more information, visit **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** Job Description: The Patent Prosecution Counsel will join AbbVie's Intellectual Property, Transactions, and Innovation legal team and provide legal advice and counsel to cross-functional R&D and business teams on various IP-related matters. They will also draft, file, and prosecute patent applications and challenge and defend patents in post-grant proceedings. This position requires strong legal, analytical, communication, collaboration, and project management skills. Responsibilities: - Develop and implement intellectual property strategies to maximize AbbVie's competitive position - Provide legal advice and counsel to cross-functional teams - Draft, file, and prosecute patent applications worldwide - Challenge and defend patents in post-grant proceedings - Conduct prior art searches and analyze third-party patent positions - Support business development activities through due diligence Qualifications: - JD degree from an accredited law school - State bar admission enabling in-house practice (specific state not required) - Registration to practice before the USPTO - 3 years of experience practicing patent law at a law firm and/or life sciences company - Technical background relevant for pharmaceutical patent prosecution (e.g., small molecule and/or biological pharmaceutical discovery & development, technical degree in relevant field) - Strong legal, analytical, communication, collaboration, and project management skills Additional Information: - The salary range for this position is $133,500 - $253,500, and may vary based on factors such as geographic location. - AbbVie offers a comprehensive benefits package, including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, and 401(k) to eligible employees. - This position is eligible for short-term and long-term incentive programs. - AbbVie is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion.
