Job Title: Patent Attorney Location: Alameda, CA Salary: $180,000 - $240,000 per year (depending on experience) Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Patent Attorney to join our team in Alameda, CA. In this role, you will be responsible for drafting and prosecuting patent applications related to molecular biology and genetic engineering using CRISPR-based technologies. You will work closely with senior in-house patent attorneys and outside counsel to develop and execute patent strategies. Additionally, you will be responsible for reviewing scientific and patent literature to monitor the competitive landscape and provide recommendations to project teams. Key Responsibilities: - Draft patent specifications and claims - Draft responses to patent office actions - Interact with senior in-house patent attorney and outside counsel for patent drafting, prosecution, and strategy - Assist in the oversight of the patent portfolio - Review scientific and patent literature to monitor competitive landscape - Conduct patent keyword and assignee searches to monitor competitive landscape and perform FTO analyses - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to facilitate execution of projects within established timelines - Work independently with R&D staff to provide recommendations on experimental design and support patent applications Required Skills and Experience: - JD degree and admitted to practice in the state of California - MS or doctorate in molecular biology; specialization in CRISPR technology preferred - 3-5 years of experience in a law firm - Demonstrated experience in patent and claim drafting - Ability to interpret and present research data and other complex information - Strong oral and written communication skills - Excellent organizational and time management abilities - Good interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary research team - Proficiency in Microsoft Office or equivalent products, including manipulation of graphs and figures Benefits: - Competitive salary based on experience - Comprehensive medical benefits - Additional incentives provided as part of the complete package Apply for this Job: If you are passionate about developing the next generation of CRISPR-based therapeutics and possess the required skills and experience, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
