The OAG is seeking a highly skilled and experienced litigator to join their team as an Assistant Attorney General in the Poughkeepsie Regional Office. This position offers a diverse and stimulating litigation practice, representing and defending the State of New York and its agencies in various civil actions and proceedings. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to handle all phases of litigation, from inception through trial, and will possess strong writing, analytical, organizational, negotiation, and supervisory skills.

Responsibilities:

- Represent and defend the State of New York and its agencies in state courts in civil actions and proceedings involving public employment, public health, law enforcement, corrections, state finance, insurance, taxation, mental hygiene, and other litigation matters arising out of state legislation, regulations, and operations.
- Handle all phases of an investigation and litigation, from commencement through trial.
- Demonstrate strong writing, analytical, organizational, negotiation, and supervisory skills.
- Appear in court regularly.
- Collaborate with a team of dedicated individuals to serve the people of New York State.

Qualifications:

- Minimum of three (3) years of litigation experience.
- Must be a resident of (or intend to soon become a resident of) New York State.
- Must be admitted to practice law in New York State.
- Must be a citizen of the United States.
- Strong writing, analytical, organizational, negotiation, and supervisory skills.
- Ability to handle all phases of litigation.
- Experience with public employment, public health, law enforcement, corrections, state finance, insurance, taxation, or mental hygiene litigation is preferred.
