2025 LSNC SUMMER LAW CLERK PROGRAM
Vallejo, CA

The LSNC Summer Law Clerk Program is a 10-week, full-time internship for law students from May 27, 2025 through August 1, 2025. The program is offered in person at LSNC's offices in various locations, including Auburn, Chico, Eureka, Redding, Sacramento, Ukiah, Vallejo, and Woodland, as well as with LSNC's Western States Pension Assistance Project in Sacramento.

The program begins with a multi-day orientation where law students will be exposed to the major legal problems faced by low-income individuals and the necessary advocacy skills to assist in these cases. After orientation, law clerks will report to their assigned offices and may receive additional training. They will have the opportunity to engage in client interviewing, drafting memos, working with community groups, and conducting legal research for cases and community issues. Law clerks may also work on special projects such as designing community education seminars, conducting in-depth research on substantive law topics, or creating legal resources for clients or staff.

Each law clerk will be assigned a mentor attorney who will provide guidance throughout the summer. They will also have the opportunity to work with other LSNC advocates and staff.

LSNC will offer a modest living expense stipend to qualified summer law clerks. They may also assist in pursuing public interest law foundation grants or work-study funds. LSNC is also open to working with law clerks who seek externship credit in lieu of summer funding.

Law students can apply directly or through various public interest career events. LSNC will conduct interviews and make offers on a rolling basis through March 14, 2025. To apply directly, applicants should submit a resume, cover letter with preferred office placement(s), and an unofficial law school transcript to **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** by January 31, 2025, with the subject line "2025 Summer Law Clerk Program."
