Pearl River, NY Organization: Justice Center For The Protection Of People With Special Needs Job Title: Assistant Counsel Salary: From $90931 to $114940 Annually Employment Type: Full-Time Experience: Two (2) years post-admission trial and/or hearing experience Location: Pearl River, NY Schedule: Mon-Fri, 9 AM to 5 PM Travel Percentage: 20% H1: Assistant Counsel at Justice Center | Pearl River, NY | $90K-$115K Annually H2: Join Our Team as an Assistant Counsel and Make a Difference in the Lives of Special Needs Individuals The Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs is seeking a dedicated and passionate Assistant Counsel to join our team in Pearl River, NY. As a member of the Office of General Counsel, you will play a crucial role in protecting over one million New Yorkers under the care or jurisdiction of six State Oversight Agencies. Responsibilities: • Review and assess evidence in investigations of abuse or neglect allegations in facilities serving individuals with special needs. • Analyze evidence to determine if it meets statutory definitions of abuse or neglect. • Draft legal determinations and consult with investigators. • Conduct training with Justice Center and SOA staff. • Defend legal positions in administrative proceedings. • Prepare and present evidence and arguments in hearings. • Input and review case information in the Vulnerable Persons Central Registry. Requirements: • Admission to the New York State Bar and good standing. • Two (2) years post-admission trial and/or hearing experience. • Commitment to public service. • Strong research and writing skills.
