Staff Attorney - Grants Pass Office: Providing Civil Legal Services to Low-Income Clients in Oregon

Position: **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** (OLC) is seeking a full-time Staff Attorney for their Grants Pass office to provide civil legal services to low-income clients in Josephine County.

About OLC: OLC is a legal services program dedicated to achieving justice for low-income communities in Oregon. With eleven offices across the state, OLC offers a wide range of high-quality civil legal services, including a litigation support unit, legislative advocacy unit, and statewide farmworker program. OLC works closely with other partners in Oregon's coordinated civil legal services delivery system.

OLC's Grants Pass Office: The Grants Pass office consists of three attorneys, including the advertised position, and one paralegal. Priorities for the office include housing, family law, and civil rights, with ongoing efforts to set updated priorities for 2024 to 2026. The office aims to make a real difference in clients' lives and eliminate barriers that contribute to poverty.

Responsibilities: The Staff Attorney will handle impact litigation and individual cases in state and federal court, with a focus on impact work. The attorney will also conduct community outreach and engagement with clients, service organizations, government agencies, and other stakeholders. Opportunities for legislative and policy advocacy are also available.

Requirements:

• Demonstrated commitment to justice for low-income communities.
• High level of initiative and ability to independently manage a caseload.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills, sense of humor, and curious attitude.
• Excellent written and verbal advocacy skills.
• Interest in creative problem-solving for clients' legal issues.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, Zoom, and cloud-based phone services.

Preferences:

• Admission to the Oregon Bar or eligibility for admission through reciprocity or upcoming exam.
• Proficiency in spoken and written Spanish.
• Experience representing low-income clients, particularly non-English-speaking communities.
• Experience with complex, impact litigation.

Salary and Benefits: The salary for this position ranges from $65,500 to $102,500, with placement determined by years of relevant experience as an attorney. Additional compensation is available for bilingual abilities. The benefits package includes individual and family health, vision, and dental insurance coverage, employer retirement contribution, generous paid holidays, vacation and sick leave, paid moving expenses, and bar study leave.
