Concord, NH Data Privacy Attorney - Consumer Protection Bureau - Office of the Attorney General Organization: New Hampshire Department of Justice Salary: Not specified Job Title: Data Privacy Attorney Experience: Prior civil or criminal litigation experience preferred Location: Concord, NH The New Hampshire Department of Justice is seeking a highly motivated attorney to fill a newly created position within the Consumer Protection and Antitrust Bureau focused on data privacy enforcement. This position offers an exciting opportunity to take a leading role in the Attorney General's data privacy enforcement responsibilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for investigating alleged violations, negotiating settlement agreements, and litigating cases in superior court related to the State's first comprehensive data privacy law, RSA 507-H. They will also have the opportunity to develop informational materials and policies educating consumers and businesses on their rights, responsibilities, and remedies under the Act. In addition to data privacy enforcement, the selected candidate will also work on general consumer protection and antitrust matters. This may include using criminal and civil enforcement authority to protect consumers from unfair and deceptive practices in areas such as automobile sales, construction fraud, and predatory debt collection. They will also work to protect fair and open competition by investigating and enjoining illegal combinations and monopolies, particularly in the healthcare industry. The Bureau also collaborates with other state attorneys general, the US Department of Justice, and the Federal Trade Commission to prosecute unlawful business practices with nation-wide impact. The ideal candidate should be highly motivated, organized, and have a strong interest in data privacy issues and enforcement. Prior civil or criminal litigation experience is preferred.
