Attorney (General Counsel-Associate)
Tulsa, OK Attorney (General Counsel-Associate): In this role, you will provide legal services and expertise to the organization while ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, and policies. H1: Attorney (General Counsel-Associate) - Legal Services and Compliance Expertise H2: Job Summary - Competitive salary - Full benefits package - Generous paid time off - Full-time, on-site position in Tulsa, OK The Attorney (General Counsel-Associate) will report to the General Counsel and be responsible for providing legal services as a practicing attorney. This includes interpreting laws, rules, and regulations, as well as advising agency leadership and staff on legal matters. The role also involves overseeing general legal affairs, court matters, contract drafting, employment law, staff education, policies and procedures, regulatory matters, and risk management. H2: Job Responsibilities - Conduct legal research and provide advice on designated legal matters - Assist General Counsel with implementing operational changes to ensure regulatory and legal compliance - Support crisis management and response efforts as needed - Provide guidance to senior paralegal and administrative staff - Review and respond to subpoenas and court orders served on the agency - Act as the agency contact for external attorneys requesting staff testimony or medical records - Prepare employees for court appearances or deposition testimony - Draft, negotiate, and review legal contracts and documents - Develop and recommend improvements for standard contractual documents, templates, and forms - Support the General Counsel in all employment law needs, including legal research and trainings for staff and leadership - Assist in reviewing, drafting, and maintaining agency policies and procedures - Maintain expertise in and advise the agency on relevant regulatory requirements - Assist in the annual design, implementation, and follow-up of the agency's risk management program - Continually evaluate and implement changes to the incident report processes - Assist with reporting risk trends to Risk Council and the agency's executive leadership team - Assist with the annual insurance renewal and monthly claims data H2: Qualifications - Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school - 1-3 years of experience in healthcare law, or 5 years of transactional work, with a focus on healthcare preferred - Strong leadership and analytical skills - Excellent communication and people skills - Ability to identify and mitigate risks - Strong initiative and ability to work in a fast-paced environment - Working knowledge of relevant health care and mental health laws and regulations - Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and display strong judgment skills - Well-organized with the ability to multitask and manage time effectively - Ability to maintain confidentiality - Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and other relevant software - Admission to the Oklahoma Bar Association required (may be acquired after hire) - Must possess a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record H2: Certifications/Licenses - Admission to the Oklahoma Bar Association (may be acquired after hire) - Must possess a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record H2: Safety-Sensitive Job Classification This position is classified as "safety-sensitive" under the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act. As such, the employee may be subject to drug and alcohol testing, including random testing, with marijuana being included in the drug panel screening.
