This division protects and defends the rights of indigent individuals with mental illness in administrative hearings and civil proceedings in District and Circuit Courts. As an Assistant Public Defender in the Mental Health Division, you will have the opportunity to represent clients in various legal proceedings across the state, including involuntary commitment and release hearings before administrative law judges, appeals of administrative decisions, and release and involuntary outpatient treatment hearings before judges and juries. This is a full-time position with a competitive salary and benefits package.
