Housing and Economic Justice Staff Attorney - Amsterdam Office

The Legal Aid Society of Northeastern New York is seeking a compassionate and hardworking Staff Attorney to join our Housing and Economic Justice Project in the Amsterdam office. This full-time position offers a competitive salary, excellent benefits, and flexible work options.

Salary Information:

- $70,511-89,357 per year, dependent on experience

Experience Information:

- Minimum requirements include a clean and valid NYS driver's license and vehicle, good computer and administrative skills, and the ability to read, write, and speak Spanish (a plus).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Provide legal assistance to low-income individuals and families in Fulton, Montgomery, and Schoharie counties who are at risk of homelessness
- Conduct client interviews and assessments
- Represent clients in court in eviction proceedings
- Advocate for clients' access to services and government benefit programs

Work Environment:

- Professional law office environment with occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds
- Use of standard office equipment and software
- Remote videoconferencing platforms
