San Juan, PR Job Title: Jr. Tax Attorney (San Juan) Salary: Dependent on experience Experience: Minimum 4 years of tax related experience Education: JD degree and admission to practice in Puerto Rico Department: Taxation Location: San Juan, PR Employment Type: Full-time Job Requisition ID: R2024-27 H1: Join Our Team as a Jr. Tax Attorney in San Juan, Puerto Rico H2: Work on Exciting Tax Matters with DLA Piper Law Firm: DLA Piper Overview: DLA Piper is seeking a bilingual Tax Attorney for our San Juan office. This individual will work on a variety of Puerto Rico and United States taxation matters. We are looking for a motivated and experienced individual to join our team and grow their career with us. Key Responsibilities: - Provide legal counsel on Puerto Rico and United States taxation matters - Handle mergers and acquisitions, inbound structuring, and preparation of private letter rulings and Closing Agreements with the Puerto Rico Department of the Treasury - Prepare and submit applications for tax exemption decrees with the PR Department of Economic Development and Commerce - Advise on taxation of private equity funds and investors, financial institutions, and corporate tax planning - Assist with energy tax credits and Opportunity Zone Funds Requirements: - JD degree from an accredited law school - Admission to practice in Puerto Rico - Minimum 4 years of tax related experience - Fluent in both English and Spanish - Strong analytical and writing skills - Attention to detail and good business judgment - Ability to work collaboratively and independently General Expectations: - Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written - Timely and efficient in producing deliverables and responding to correspondence - Ability to meet deadlines and perform work duties as required - Foster positive work relationships and comply with firm policies and practices - Comfortable with both physical and sedentary work - Embrace and uphold our firm values Physical Demands and Work Environment: - Sedentary work with occasional lifting or carrying up to 10 pounds - Hybrid work environment with some in-office expectations Application Process: Please apply online through our website.
